What is M.Tech. Hydraulics & Water Resource
Engineering?
M.Tech. Hydraulics
& Water Resource Engineering or Master of Technology Hydraulics & Water Resource
Engineering is a postgraduate Water Resources
Engineering programmed. The course deals with the methods and techniques applied
in the study of water needs for agriculture, industry, households, recreation,
navigation, and hydroelectric power generation, problems related to stormwater
drainage and flood damage mitigation. The course helps to solve problems
related to water quality in streams and aquifers, erosion, sedimentation,
protection of ecosystems and other natural resources, integrated water
management and institutional, socio-economic, and policy issues related to
water resources development and management. provides a strong conceptual
background in areas such as irrigation, hydrology, hydropower, water supply,
flood control, through a wide range of courses including applied fluid
mechanics, free surface flows, surface water, hydrology, water resources
planning and management, hydraulic modelling, irrigation technology, ground
water engineering, contaminant transport, finite element methods in water
resources, unsteady open channel flows, stochastic methods in water resources
technology, economics of water resources planning, hydraulic transients,
environmental hydraulics, simulation of water resources system, urban hydrology
and storm drainage design and management, coastal zone management, expert
system and evolutionary algorithm applications to water resources problems,
water quality modelling, computing techniques, computer aided analysis and
design.
Why Study MTech Water
Resources Engineering?
Scope of The Course:
he waters demand is ever-increasing, and as the need
for water increases, we also see an increase in the demand for professionals
who can develop and maintain our water resources.
After completion of the course, students can do the
following things:
·
Getting a job
with a government institution - after completion of MTech in water resources,
students can get jobs with government organizations such as Central Water
Commission, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), Water and Irrigation
departments.
Certainly there
are some skills needed to be a water engineer or to pursue M.Tech in water
resource engineering. Check out the basic skills required, below.
MTech Water
Resources Engineering is gaining more importance, and students who have
completed the course can get jobs in both the private and government
sectors.
Water resource
engineers mostly get a chance to work with the government and oversee effective
management. They also get to work on large engineering projects such as
constructing canals, dams, water reservoirs etc.
The
responsibilities of a water engineer include designing structures such as canals,
dams, sewage conduits etc. it is also their job to manage waterways and prevent
soil erosion and floods in their area.
Development of hydroelectric power, irrigation,
navigation, and water supply are some of the applications of water resources
engineers.
