Micro Electronics and VLSI Design

Why Micro Electronics and VLSI Design

M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI Design embodies candidates with the many key skills required to integrate circuit design and those applicable to electronic system engineering. Candidates gain a threshold to examine the aspects related to the integration of system and study device properties making it a better platform to conduct research in the study of Electric System and Devices. Students gain expertise in skills relating to business, communication and as working in a team as well as areas of Mathematics and Science.

The program specializes candidates to gain an intrinsic view into the areas of technology such as integrated circuit device design, integrated microelectronics device processing and about the advanced devices like photonics. They are instilled with qualities which let them undertake leadership roles in their specialization field, develop a questionnaire and hold a critical attitude to examine and experiment the problems with a practical outlook.

The program curriculum is divided into theory, laboratory practice, and projects. Candidates having a strong interest and foundation of Mathematics and Science will be able to evaluate the data and construct methods to bring about the desired results through the effective application of VLSI Design. The program primarily concentrates on microelectronic technology, in addition to secondary advanced subjects such as Ethics in Engineering, Mathematics and Reliability Engineering and so on.

As the program of M.Tech in Microelectronic and VLSI Design provides a cutting-edge to analyze workings of systems integration and discrete properties of a device, it turns to be an excellent platform for candidates who contemplate to take up research in future. Graduates have opportunities to test their caliber of system design, clip design, and testing, etc. The aim of the program is to provide students a broad base of education and understanding about the semiconductor industry, enabling them lucrative opportunities in future endeavors.

Why Study M.Tech in Micro Electronics and VLSI Design?

  • The course is beneficial to provide a broad-based education to students with a bachelor’s degree in traditional engineering or science disciplines who are interested in a career in the semiconductor industry.
  • Candidate can work as heads of departments of innovation, research and development related to electronic technologies, information, and communication.
  • Career opportunities involve work in embedded system design, VLSI design, system on a chip, chip design, the design of DSP-based systems, in a wide range of industries including telecommunications, automotive, chip design and testing corporations (Motorola, Intel, Bosch, etc.) and research organizations.

Scope of the Course:

M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI Design trains the students in applying the knowledge in innovating newer designs and engineering the microelectronic elements to produce sophisticated designs, provide practical solutions to problems and develop the ability to give a critical overview of the subject. The program equips candidates with management skills assisting them in progressing to senior positions in the field.

Graduates of the course have a wide arena of opportunities to choose from amongst the sectors of research and development, innovation sectors, electronic technologies as well as information and communication sector. They can become Device Engineers, Application Engineers, Process Development Engineer, Product Engineer and other such.
