M.Tech (Mechatronics) or Master
of Technology Mechatronics is a Post-Graduate Information Technology
programme. Mechatronics is designed to provide students with a formal
qualification in engineering at the master’s level. Mechatronic engineers blend
the disciplines of mechanical engineering, computing and electronics to create
a huge range of products.
The course emphasizes industry interaction, featuring
guest lecturers in the areas of project management, intellectual property,
ethics and patenting. In their final year, students undertake
an industrial design project in which they can apply their technical
knowledge and research skills, using state-of-the-art facilities. Mechatronics
is the synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronic
control and systems thinking in the design of products and manufacturing
processes. It relates to the design of systems, devices and products aimed at
achieving an optimal balance between basic mechanical structure and its overall
control.
